Surakshita, or the home for girls and women at risk, was initiated as part of the interventions
of the Gender Desk to address the most needy adolescent girls and women. This centre is
now being run by the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC) through the
Little Flower Welfare Society. They have license under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015. On an
average there are about 20 girls at the home. PARA and Surakshita teams meet regularly to
discuss gender related work.
